Loudest retracting noise ever
This gate I curse at at least once a day. We had a difficult spot that we needed a gate for and it does work well in the space, love the design and look but functionality isn’t so great. First biggest complaint is the gate is so freaking loud when retracting , how are you supposed to not disturb sleeping children esp when this is installed at the top of the stairs !?!? In order to keep it quiet you have to turn the knob and hold it with one hand while retracting with the other hand. Which worked at first sort of but now not so much. Also if you are carrying a sleeping child you obv don’t have two hands! I’ve had to step over the gate (thankfully I’m tall) which isn’t the safest !!! Wish there was a better option for our situation and I’d change in an instant

Durable and high quality
Very durable and high quality. I just got it together so I didn’t lock the sides yet and don’t have my mat down yet. Very pleased!

they need to come up with something's more universal but I love it either
I use this at the bottom of my stairs I had to zip tie the hooks to the spindles..they need to come up with something's more universal but I love it either way

Missing parts and NO mounting instructions
We were so excited to mount this on our outside deck so that we could sit outside without worrying about our dog escaping. We think we got a USED or RETURNED product. We were missing the bottom mounting bracket, 2 screws, all mounting templates and there were NO instructions and none available online. We managed to create our own templates and mount the gate, however the bottom is not taught enough to keep her in after all that! We mounted it as low as we could but there is still flex in the bottom and being a small dog she could slip right under. So disappointing!

I love this gate
I love this gate!!! I gave it 4 stars because it tears very easy. We purchased 3 and have had them less than a year and all are torn on the bottom because my dog stuck his nose underneath it. He did not bite or jump on it, just his nose and it ripped.

Compact, slightly complicated
It took a few tries to figure out how to open it properly, and I've yet to be able to do it with a child in my arms, but I love it! It's so slim and I don't have baby gates laying around all over

The template is off
Be careful when installing, the template is off. The top bracket needs to be mounted about 1/8" to 3/16" higher (or further from bottom bracket). Before adjusting could't snap the top cover down to secure the thing because the release lever was in the way. I'll needed to move the top bracket up 1/16", re-drill the holes, screw the bracket to the wall again and mount the device again. It's disappointing that the instructions themselves provide direction contrary to success. Very frustrating experience.

Instalation is not that easy, also is very hard to open and close but overall it is a very nice gate, I do not recommend it if you need to open and close it and you are carrying your baby, you definitely need both hands to open and close it. It is good to use it for your dogs has good quality.

Perfect
Beautiful and sturdy. I know the below comment said she couldn’t open it, but I had a hard time at first too until I really looked at the instructions. After you figure out the right way to assemble and unassemble it’s cake to set up and take down. Truly built well.

Doesn't come with spacer sets.
Pay careful attention to keeping templates plumb. Some retractable gates come with spacer sets and these are very much necessary if you have baseboard where you will install the gate.

Great gate
It came with templates for easy installation. Works smooth and easy to operate. I would like to see it be a little lighter when extended. It is not loose, I would just like it to be a little tighter.

Best thing ever
These are the best! So easy to use. I use it to keep my dogs out of a certain room and so much easier than dragging a baby gate around and having to find a place to put it when not in use. Best thing ever!

Great option for dayhomes to be able to put out of the way when not needed
My mom who has severe arthritic hands has issues getting the unlock buttons to stay down in order to pull closed or to coil back. She can usually get it though.

The holy grail of play yards
This is the holy grail of play yards! This is one of (if not the only) play yards that has mesh and what a delight that is!! And the COLORS! So simple, this goes beautifully in any room- not a giant plastic rainbow eyesore!! My kids don’t scream like they’re in a plastic prison when they are put inside!! They can see out from all angles and that makes a happy momma. Overall, I’m very happy with this playyard - and I have 3 kids, so I’ve had all the enclosures you can think of. This one takes the cake. It also comes with a cool bonus toy that hangs from one of the panels. My youngest loves toddling around with the light and music player on the bottom, and pulling himself up to the mirror. As far as the structure itself - it’s very sturdy. I have a determined 2 year old that looks to drive me crazy and she is yet to figure out the swing gate, which is easy to use and impressively study. It was simple to assemble and the locks are easy to set and the yard maintains its form. We recently mounted ours to the entrance of the play area and we’re happy with how well it’s holding up in such a high traffic area. Very impressed and it cleans up well (we had a wayward fig cookie that was mashed into the mesh and it easily wiped off). Skip hop does it again- excellent play yard.

Unfortunately I would agree with other negative reviews. There are several flaws with this product. First, it doesn't retract easily without going all the way back to the wall, so if you have this over a large space it is inconvenient if you stop for a second and it locks you have to retract it and start completely over. Second, it's nearly impossible to do this with one hand and/or when holding a baby because you have to fit the bottom and top in at the same time but if it's stretched far it's just impossible. I have twins, so to have to put one down safely and then come back to close the gate defeats the purpose. Third, it is so LOUD when it cranks out that I couldn't have this anywhere near where they nap. We'll now have to take this down and return it, AFTER we added our own shims to make it fit. Very disappointing.

Works well for dogs
I've had the gate for a few days and so far I'm pretty impressed. After a little hiccup (didn't use wall anchors ) the gate has been very solid. It took measuring a few times to make it perfect but thank god for the templates they really help a lot. Since I bought this for my large dog I decided to mount it above the baseboards and it's worked out well. I'm able to keep my 127 lb. mastiff out of the living room and kitchen when we're cooking. Yay no more drool during dinner! Although he's not a fan I'm so happy I bought this gate ! Also of note I know some people said they were unable to use this gate with one hand but I have been able to as it gives you time to unlock one side and then grab the gate to close it. Not the easiest but definitely possible.
